Kundan Jewelry, Polki and Meenakari jewelry, as fascinating and beautiful they are, is also a genre of art that is historic, underrated and misunderstood. Irrespective of various changes in trends and lifestyle, Kundan and Polki jewellery has jubilantly survived this change and still remains an important part of every bride’s trousseau and of our heritage that is passed down to generations. It journeys through a long history of cultural legacy and its’ detailing art and painstaking production technique continues to appeal to modern women. But till date many of us have limited knowledge of these exquisite pieces and are often mislead by smooth talking salesman and confusing terminology.
We got in touch with Mr. Otarmal Jain (Founder) and Mr. Vipul Jain (Director) of Golank Jewels to know more about the art of jewelry

  1. Please tell us about yourself, and something about Golank Jewels.

The journey of Golank Jewels began 5 decades ago. We manufacture our jewelry at Bikaner. We have done B2B all this time and have recently shifted our focus to B2C. At Golank Jewels we build stories and carve them on diamonds and precious gemstones. Along with the most known pieces of gold, we offer ecstatic pieces of uncut Diamonds, Emeralds, tourmaline, Ruby and Pearls.

  1. When did you start this brand? What went into establishing the brand?

Golank Jewels was established 5 decades ago. Our love for Diamonds, precious gemstones and affinity with the culture around it inspired us to establish the brand.

  1. Tell us what is Polki jewelry exactly.
Polki means uncut diamonds. Polki jewelry is a type of traditional jewelry where uncut diamonds or polkis are embedded onto a gold base, which has Meenakari painting work at the back. It is one of the most ancient types of jewelry in India, originating from the state of Rajasthan.

  2. How have the trends in fashion industry influenced rich, heritage jewelry?

The Indian jewelry market has noticed an accelerated shift in buying behavior of women in the recent years. There has been a huge change in the taste of the modern women. Irrespective, of the changes in trends, Kundan and Polki jewelry has jubilantly survived this change and still remains an important part of every bride’s trousseau and of our heritage that is passed down to generations.

  1. What is the inspiration behind your designs?

The inspiration used in our jewelry designs is attributed to the widely available vast and diverse cultural heritage resources of India. The inspiration is invented by the right choice of gemstones; stone setting styles and size of stones. Not all can transform an inspiration into a wearable piece of jewelry. The tough part of creativity is to create a design, which can be manufactured, send across the right
message of inspiration and make it wearable too. Creativity has no limit and can be only limited if the mind is unable to process an idea into a beautiful unique piece.

  1. What makes different than other jewelry brand
Our brand offers products that are new and creative. This is the result of constant innovation. We offer a huge variety of ready-to-wear items at our store. Most importantly the designs of the pieces we have already sold are never the same as that we have on display. This policy gives us somewhat an edge over others, as what we offer to our customers, along with creative designs are exclusivity.

  1. Describe your recent collection?
In our recent collection we have given traditional polki jewellery our own modern touch. We have introduced new colors of meenakari painting work offering unique and one of a kind designs to our customers.

  2. Your company vision?

Our vision is to provide unique designs and maintain the highest level of quality while manufacturing our jewelry. It is also to open outlets across India so that people can engage with us and be a part for our heritage.
